    Beautiful Places in Udaipur – City of Lakes

    Introduction

    Udaipur, often referred as the “City of Lakes”, is a mesmerizing city nestled in the heart of the Indian state of  Rajasthan. Udaipur is a city that captures the essence of Rajasthanis royal past while embracing the allure of its natural surroundings. Its most striking feature is the network of pristine lakes that adorn the cityscapes. These shimmering bodies of water reflect the surrounding palaces, hills, and lush greenery, creating a scene of ethereal beauty. 

    Best Time To Visit Udaipur

    The best time to visit Udaipur is during the months of winter i.e. from October to March. During these months, the weather is so pleasant and ideal for exploring the city’s outdoor attractions without the scorching heat of the sun. 

    10 Best Places to Visit at Udaipur

    1. City Palace

    The City Palace is a mesmerizing blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. It stands on the bank of Lake Pichola and offers the breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding hills. Inside, the palace is adorned with beautiful paintings, mirrored walls, and gorgeous courtyards, making it a true visual delight.

    It is a living museum that offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Mewar royalty. As you explore into the palace’s corridors, rooms, and courtyards, you can see an extensive collection of artifacts, paintings, and weaponry. The Sheesh Mahal, adorned with thousands of tiny mirrors, is a particularly breathtaking view.

    Opening Time: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM

    Distance from City Centre: About 1 Km

    Ticket Prices: About 300 for adults  and 100 for children

    2. Lake Pichola

    Lake Pichola is a serene lake surrounded by hills and palaces. It is famous for its boat rides that offer a peaceful experience with beautiful beauty. The Lake is artificially created by Maharana Udai Singh II in the 14th century. 

    The lake’s beauty is accentuated by its two islands, Jag mandir and Jag Niwas, which appear to float on its waters. 

    Opening Time: 9:00 AM -4:00 PM

    Location: Starts from the city palace

    Ticket Prices: About Rs. 400 per boat ride

    3. Fateh Sagar Lake

    Fateh Sagar is another beautiful lake in Udaipur dotted with Islands and charming views. It was originally constructed in the 17th century by Maharana Jai Singh but was rebuilt by Maharana Fateh Singh  after it was damaged by floods. The lake is named after him.

    Opening Time: Open all time but boat rides are best during day time

    Distance from City Centre: Around 5 Kms

    Ticket Prices: About Rs. 30 per person for boat rides

    4. Sahelio Ka Bari

    Sahelio Ka Bari means “Garden of the Maidens” as it used to be the favorite retreat for the queen and her maids. This is a lovely garden with lush green lawns, lotus pools, and beautiful  fountains. It is considered as a peaceful spot for a leisurely stroll. It was designed for the royal ladies by Maharana Sangram Singh in the 18th century.

    Opening Time: 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM

    Distance from City Centre: Around 4 Kms

    Ticket Prices: Rs. 10 for adults and Rs. 5 for childrens

    5. Jag Mandir

    Jag Mandir

    Jag Mandir is also known as the ‘Island Palace’, located in lake Pichola. It is known for its stunning architecture and serene ambiance. 

    The palace’s architecture and gardens are a testament to the aesthetic sentiments of the Mewar rulers. It is said that it has inspired the design of Taj Mahal.

    Opening Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM 

    Location: Boat ride from Lake Pichola

    Ticket Prices: About Rs. 300 for Adults and Rs. 150 for children

    6. Jagdish Temple

    Jagdish temple

    Jagdish Temple is a large and beautifully sculpted temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is known for its impressive architecture and intricate carvings. It’s an important religious site in Udaipur. 

    The Indo-Aryan architecture of Jagdish Temple offers a spiritual respite which makes it a palace of worship and tranquility.

    Opening Timings: 4:30 AM – 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM  

    Distance from City Centre: About 1.5 Kms

    Ticket Prices: Free entry

    7. Sajjangarh Palace

    Monsoon Palace of Udaipur

    Located at the top of the hill, this palace offers panoramic views of Udaipur and its lakes. It is also known as Monsoon Palace. It is a great spot for sunset views. This palace was invented in the 19th century, intended to serve as an astronomical center and monsoon retreat for the royal family. 

    The drive up the hill is an adventure in itself. It is also the best place to capture a moment of time with photographs. 

    Opening Time: 9:30 AM- 6:30 PM

    Distance from City Centre: Approx. 5 Kms

    Ticket Prices: About Rs. 10 for Indian and Rs. 80 for Foreigners

    8. Shilpgram

    Shilpgram is a living museum showcasing the art, culture, and crafts of rural Rajasthan. It is a place where you can explore the traditional ways of rural life in Rajasthan, including folk dances, art exhibitions, and craft demonstrations.

    Opening Time: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Closed on Fridays)  

    Distance from City Centre: Around 7 Kms

    Ticket Prices: Rs. 30 for adults and Rs. 15 for childrens

    9. Udaipur Ropeway to Karni Mata Temple

    Karni Mata Ropeway

    The Udaipur Ropeway, also known as the Mansapurna Karni Mata Ropeway, is a cable car system that provides a scenic ride to the hilltop shrine of Goddess Karni Mata. The ride offers a unique perspective of Udaipur’s landscape, lakes, and aravali hills, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of Udaipur from the bird eye view. It is the must do activity for anyone visiting Udaipur.

    Opening Time: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM 

    Distance from City Centre: Around 1.5 Kms (near to city palace) 

    Ticket Prices: Approx of Rs. 150 for adults and Rs. 50 for childrens 

    10. Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal

    Kala Museum

    Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal is also known as ‘Kala Museum’. This museum showcases the vibrant folklore, art, and culture of Rajasthan through exhibits and performances. This museum is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Rajasthan. It is a place where you can learn about the colorful traditions of Rajasthan.

    This institution is a treasure trove of traditional dances, puppetry, music, and folk art.

    Opening Time: 9:00 AM  – 5:30 PM (Closed on Sundays) 

    Distance from City Centre: About 1 Km

    Ticket Prices: Rs. 30 for adults and Rs. 15 for childrens

    Despite the among places, Udaipur is also surrounded by the following tourist attractions and natural beauty: 

    • Sukhadia Circle: A charming round boat with a lovely fountain
    • Bagore Ki Haveli : Historic Haveli with cultural performances and museum
    • Dudh Talai: A beautiful area with musical fountains and gardens
    • Gulab Bagh: The largest garden in Udaipur with diverse flora
    • Vintage Car Museum: Contains the collections of vintage automobiles once owned by the royalty

Babari(Ocimum Ocimum basilicum) is a name of a plant/flower found in the Southeast Asia including Nepal and India. Babari plants has the medicinal uses for various Kidney diseases, Menstrual Irregularities, Cholera and Malaria. It has a great fragnance and is also used in cuisnines for taste enhancing. I have been loving the fragnance of this Plant/flower since childhood, which made me name this website after the plant name.
